The incubators are humming.

The incubators are humming and the first batch of eggs is due to hatch on Sunday 30th April. This is the first time that I have been involved with the incubation processes without Pam around to advise. I had good training, though, and remain reasonably confident so far!

Long dry spell

Taking advantage of this long dry spell of weather, I’ve tidied up the unoccupied fields with the topper, whilst Cousin John has busied himself with replacing the hanging posts on two of the field gates. I’ve also given the driveway doors and implement sheds a couple of coats of preservative (mix of turpentine and boiled linseed oil). That should keep them in good order until next Spring.

Front garden

We now hope to start work on the front garden area towards the end of May. We have about 120 tons of good topsoil, sufficient for the remodelling of the lawn area. The biggest job will be to break up and remove the remains of a large concrete pond.

Keeping busy

I’m finding that keeping busy and remaining focussed on what needs to be done is a considerable comforter.
